Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of workload and work stress on employee turnover intention at PT Charoen Pokphand Jaya Farm 3 Pekanbaru, both partially and simultaneously. This research was motivated by the persistently high labour turnover (LTO) rate, which continued to rise and reached 39.3% in 2024, presumably triggered by excessive workload resulting from an imbalance between work volume and workforce size, as well as high levels of work stress indicated by a growing rate of employee absenteeism. The method employed was quantitative with a descriptive approach. The population as well as the sample of this study consisted of all 50 employees of PT Charoen Pokphand Jaya Farm 3 Pekanbaru, selected using a saturated sampling technique (census). Data were collected through a questionnaire using a Likert scale and analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, T-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²) with the aid of SPSS software. The findings indicate that workload and work stress, both partially and simultaneously, have a significant effect on employee turnover intention at PT Charoen Pokphand Jaya Farm 3 Pekanbaru. Therefore, proportional workload management and effective work stress control are strategic measures in reducing the level of turnover intention within the livestock industry environment.
