Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity is expected to provide real benefits to the community, especially in increasing knowledge and awareness of food safety for school children's snacks (PJAS). This PKM activity was carried out at SDN 025 Tambang, Tambang Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, with the main targets being students, teachers, and snack sellers in the school environment. The activity focused on increasing understanding of the importance of food safety and how to choose safe, healthy, and nutritious snacks. Based on the results of initial observations, there are still many snacks that have the potential to contain dangerous chemicals such as textile dyes, formalin, and borax. In addition, most students and sellers are not yet aware of the food safety standards set by BPOM. This problem is exacerbated by the low level of outreach activities from relevant agencies and the lack of engaging information media for elementary school children. Through this Community Service Program (PKM) activity, the implementing team provided interactive outreach using lectures, discussions, and live demonstrations on the "4 Keys to Food Safety" and how to check KLIK (Packaging, Labels, Distribution Permits, and Expiration Dates). It is hoped that after this activity, students will be more selective in choosing safe snacks, teachers will be able to play an active role in monitoring children's food consumption at school, and snack sellers will be able to understand the importance of hygienic food processing and serving. This activity is also in line with the BPOM program on School Children's Snacks (PJAS Safe, Quality, and Nutritious). Through this community service program, it is hoped that there will be an increase in knowledge, attitudes, and healthy behaviors in the school environment, thereby creating a younger generation that is more concerned about food safety and personal health.
